The Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) has extended their support to the healthcare workers of Hindu Rao Hospital as they continued their protest for the fourth day. The FORDA has written to the Commissioner of North Delhi Municipal Corporation and also to the Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and regarding the non-payment of salaries to doctors, nurses and other workers. These staff have not received their salaries since June and hence have started an indefinite protest from 5th October. However, the emergency services are operating normally.
The letter by FORDA president Shivaji Dev Barman reads that being a COVID hospital, doctors are risking their lives at their workplace during this epidemic and are not even being paid. It has become very difficult for them to meet their daily expenses and support their families.
Since the last 3.5 months, these frontline warriors have not received their salaries which is completely demotivating them. Hindu Rao hospital doctors have repeatedly faced delays in receiving their salaries or stipends and the current issue is a longstanding one.
Hindu Rao is the largest facility which comes under the North Delhi Municipal Corporation and is now turned into a dedicated COVID-19 hospital.
